(Semi)-Metallic Gaskets

(Semi)-Metallic Gaskets combine metallic and non-metallic components that are typically fire-safe and used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications. Different semi-metallic gasket styles with their unique characteristics are available.

Spiral Wound

The Spiral Wound Gasket (SWG) is one of the most commonly used semi-metallic gaskets. The design is based on an existing concept that has demonstrated exceptional performance over many years. The basic principle of the Spiral Wound Gasket consists of alternating layers of V-shaped metal strips and soft, non-metallic filling material. The first and the last windings consist only of metal strips to reinforce the spiral on the inner and outer diameters. This “alternating plies” construction, in conjunction with the special V-shape of the spiral metal strip and the properties of the filling material, makes the Spiral Wound Gasket ideal for applications with high temperatures and high pressures.

Various style configurations are available for standard pipe flange and custom-made applications. A wide range of alloys and non-metallic fillers are available. A low-stress version is also available for low-seating stress applications.

HDLE Spiral Wound

The High-Density, Low-Emission (HDLE) Spiral Wound Gasket is built to a higher standard so that it seals to a lower level! With more metal windings per inch, and graphite that is both denser and wider, this gasket has been shown to seal 100-times tighter than standard spiral wound gaskets. The high-density construction limits compression of the winding, ensuring that the gasket load remains on the sealing element rather than the centering rings. Wherever you have light-end, volatile gases to seal, the HDLE Spiral Wound is your proven champion.

Kammprofile

Kammprofile is a metal serrated core with soft-facing materials applied on both sides for sealing purposes, providing a seal at lower-seating stresses than a spiral wound gasket. Various style configurations are available for standard pipe flange and custom-made applications. Depending on the application, a wide range of alloys and non-metallic facing materials are available. This can be used as an emission control device to reduce plant emissions.

Metal Jacket

A Metal Jacketed Gasket is a gasket in which a non-metallic filler is encased with a thin metal. Both Single and Double Jacketed styles are available in various configurations. Different alloy and non-metallic filler materials are available depending on the application.

Corrugated

Corrugated gaskets have a corrugated metal core with soft-facing materials applied on both sides for sealing purposes. Due to its great adaptability and low bolt force requirements, the corrugated gasket has proven to be a problem solver for many applications. With its low-seating stress requirement, this gasket is a great option to reduce the number of gasket styles on-site.

Depending on the application, a wide range of alloys and non-metallic facing materials are available. The spring-like action of the corrugated core privides for great bolt load retention. This can be used as an emission control device to reduce plant emissions.

CGG/KAG Exchanger Gaskets

CGG/KAG Exchanger Gaskets were developed as part of the ERRIC Sealing System, a data-based program designed to provide leak-free bolted joint connections for shell and tube heat exchangers. Both the CGG and KAG gaskets are built to exacting standards to ensure the fit and function of the gasket, and to minimize short-term and long-term relaxation.

CGG is a Corrugated Gasket. The height, width, and depth of corrugations were derived from field research, to optimize this gasket for service in heat exchangers. The CGG gasket will not flatten when installed, nor will it suffer damage from radial shear forces.

KAG is a serrated Kammprofile gasket built to precise standards. The core is a solid metal ring that allows for uniformity in the phonographic grooves of the gasket, which optimizes the sealing surface of the gasket.

Both CGG and KAG are faced with APX-2 graphite to provide the lowest oxidation rates. They have been used in tens of thousands of heat exchangers, resulting in leak-free sealing from turnaround to turnaround.

Ring Joints

Ring Joint gaskets are metallic gaskets used in applications that involve extreme pressure and temperatures. Typical Ring Joint Gaskets come in oval or octagonal shapes, but standard and custom-made dimensions are available. Pressure-energized Ring Joint Gaskets are also available to equalize pressure through the relief hole.

Ring Joints are manufactured in compliance with API-6A and ASME B16.20 standards and a wide range of alloys are available.

KAM – ORJ

The KAM – ORJ Gasket was designed to provide additional life to worn sealing surfaces on octagonal grooved flanges. Kammprofile serrations are machined into sealing flats of octagonal RTJ Gaskets and are faced with APX-2 flexible graphite.
